After completing his secondary education in Belgrade, Pedja moved to Prague where he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts under the supervision of professors Pospisil and Sopko. Upon graduation, Pedja stayed in Prague where he works and lives with his family.
Pedja has had many solo exhibitions across the world: Daniel Katz Gallery - London, BKH Fine Arts Gallery - Los Angeles, Shawn's Gallery - Boston, Galerie Interart - Mnichov, Reygers Gallery - Munich, Suzanne Biederberg Gallery - Amsterdam, the National Museum - Prague, to name just a few.
Pedja is honoured to have his work in many private collections, as well as collections of institutions such as the United Nations - New York, BVLGARY - New York, CARTIER - Prague, ABN Amro Bank - Prague, Caplan Collection - Paris, Credit Lyonnais Bank - Prague, Lisa Frankenberg Collection - New York, Howard Bernsteun Collection - Chicago.
When he came to Prague in 1984, Pedja was "shocked by all the art around me. And all that jazz. This is a City of Music. Under communism, you could not speak, but you could get away with jazz because there was no text, just subtext. And, it's a City of Love. Very rarely have I loved somebody the way I fell in love with this city. The whole place is a playground for lovers. If you combine those three- Art, Jazz, Love - you get bursts of colour, explosions of passion". City, Music and Love all come together in his paintings. When not painting, you may find Pedja playing jazz with his band in clubs and restaurants of Prague. And, it may not be that difficult to spot him even when sitting down at the piano - Pedja is 6 feet 7 inches tall !
A critic
wrote: "... his characters, constructions, and architectonic styles melt into one another, and all is vanquished by a strong feeling of love, and becomes an authentic record of internal affections".
